Program Description

Are you a Maryland artist or arts organization in need of legal representation? At MdVLA, we provide pro bono legal representation for self-described creatives: from hip hop musicians to florists, makers to fiber artists. Our network of attorneys generally handle legal issues related to your business, such as contract review, LLC formation, copyright registration, and other matters that may affect the livelihood of a professional or amatuer creative.

Step 1: Apply for a Legal Referral
Step 2: We Determine Your Eligibility
Step 3: We Attempt to Match You with a Lawyer

MdVLA screens all applications within 24-48 hours to determine whether a request may be urgent.  If you believe your request is urgent, please provide details in your application.  If we determinate that your situation is urgent, we will endeavor to get in touch with you as soon as is practicable.  If your application is not urgent, a member of our staff will be in touch within 7 business days to schedule an initial intake.

Clients must meet certain income requirements to qualify for representation, and there is a small administrative fee.
